What is a Health Coach?
Health coaches are certified experts on human lifestyle behaviors, self-motivation, and overall health and wellness. A health coach helps clients stop leaving appointments without answers and start moving forward with a plan that is clear, specific, and tailored to their actual lives. They support and guide their clients to become their own experts on their minds, bodies, and the circumstances they live in. Learn more about health coaches here.
Jill’s Story
Jill started her evidence-based health journey at age 16, experimenting with dietary approaches from vegan to carnivore before landing on an animal-based diet that worked for her body.
In 2000, after giving birth to her 4th of 5 children, Jill had a partial thyroidectomy, which set off decades of chronic health challenges: sleep disturbances, hormonal fluctuations, low energy and libido, cognition issues, hair loss, and heart palpitations. Later, she discovered she was homozygous for the MTHFR C677t genetic SNP, placing her at higher risk for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, neurological disorders, and methylation issues.
She was getting information. She was not getting direction. So she built her own roadmap. Over the next 24 years, Jill focused on integrative nutrition, holistic lifestyle practices, and personalized supplementation to optimize her labs, maintain lean muscle mass, support her thyroid, and navigate perimenopause and menopause without second-guessing every decision.
That is what she teaches her clients to do. Stop piecing things together and start moving forward with a specific, structured plan for the next 20 to 30 years of their life.
Jill holds a B.A. in Psychology from The George Washington University and completed the Institute for Integrative Nutrition Health Coach program in 2018 and the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy program in 2019. In October 2021, she passed the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaches exam and is also a member of MINT (Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers). She is the founder of Jill Foos Wellness, a private coaching practice based in Chicago that serves clients virtually worldwide.
